Come to the Park for "Leo & Lou"

Produced by the International Latino Cultural Center and the Chicago Latino Film Festival in collaboration with the Chicago Parks District’s Movies in the Park program, this free family-friendly film series features selections from past festivals. Screenings start at dusk.

Directed by Carlos Solano, "Leo & Lou" tells the story of Leo, a mute ten-year-old orphan, who escapes from the children’s home where she lives to travel to a fishing competition. On the way, Lou, a non-conformist with barely a penny to his name, finds the little girl on the road, hitchhiking. Unaware of Leo’s real objective, he agrees to give her a ride, believing he’s taking her back home to her family. Thus begins this peculiar journey of a girl who doesn't speak and a man who doesn't want to listen. But in spite of everything, they become inseparable and discover the extraordinary meaning of the word family.
